Barcelona, Spain is one of the major cities in the country, and also Europe in general. With its cosmopolitan aire, its famous monuments, and the absolute beauty of the city and its surrounding province, all make it a number one destination amongst millions of tourists. Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain is situated on the northeast corner of the Iberian Peninsula, in line with Tarragona, Girona, and Lleida, on the Costa Brava. The population of the city of Barcelona, also known as the "Ciudad Condal," has about 2 million inhabitants alone and if you include the outskirts of the city plus its thirty-something municipalities of Catalonia, the number rises to more than 6 million. The city is divided into 10 districts between Les Corts, Ciutat Vella, Gracia, and Sant Andreu.
Its Mediterranean climate, the beauty of some of its districts, the Sagrada Familia, Barceloneta Beach, the Olympic Stadium, and the Sports Marina are all major attractions for Barcelona, not to mention its bars, restaurants, souvenir shops, and endless other activities to enjoy during your Barcelona holiday (theatre, cinema, auditoriums such as el Liceo, etc.).
The city's most attractive spots are La Rambla, La Villa Olimpica, taking in the views of the city from Montjuic and Tibidabo, its many museums. Don't forget to visit the Sagrada Familia, the Cathedral of Barcelona, or the Torre Agbar, and of course you must take time out to have a refreshing dip in the Mediterranean sea.
Whether you enjoy sports, culture, nightlife, or daily activities in the historic city centre, Barcelona is a place where you will be able to enjoy many an activity during your vacation in Catalunya.
There is plenty of Barcelona accommodation for your vacation stay: Barcelona hotels for the family, apartments for rent, holiday houses and villas in the outskirts of town or maybe even in town, hostels, etc. You should be able to find a place to stay in most neighborhoods.
